If you’re looking for an exciting layout that is sure to give you a rise, head to Red Mountain Golf Club, you won’t be let down. Spectacular, colourful and challenging, the superb Red Mountain course is packed with plenty of ‘wow-factor’.

Located in the heart of Phuket Island, just a 15-minute drive from the popular Patong and Karon beaches, Red Mountain Golf Club is one of Thailand’s top ranked tracks. And after recently spending a memorable morning playing on its pure surface, it’s hard to imagine many more thrilling golf experiences.

Opened in 2008, the 6313-metre Jon Morrow-designed layout boasts a dramatic landscape with a wide variety of landforms and elevation changes.

Built on an abandoned tin mine, the impressive course is artfully routed to take full advantage of towering cliffs, dense jungle and flooded canyons.

Red Mountain is eye-candy for golfers who enjoy playing a round in a beautiful setting. The display of colour throughout this exquisite layout is one of its primary attractions: vibrant greens, rich reds and deep blues artfully work together to create a gorgeous landscape.

If first impressions matter to you, you’ll love your first look at the layout. The view from in front of the clubhouse over the 18th hole is a stirring scene (see pic left).

From the outset, Red Mountain is captivating. The opening hole enjoys a magnificent mountain backdrop and includes two startling red rock outcrops around the green. Morrow has incorporated the scarred rock formations into his clever design. The 13th is another feature hole that is structured through steep soft rock protrusions, which are remnants from the tin mine era. And ranked the second hardest hole, you’ll need to be on your mettle to post a par score at the long 409-metre, par-4.

Throughout the layout, flooded mining pits create sparkling water hazards that ensure this course is as challenging as it is beautiful. Holes five, eight and ten are wonderful par-4s that require accuracy and a steady nerve to score well. Water features on ten holes.

Behind the 16th green, a high point at the course, a viewing platform provides an amazing panoramic view over Phuket.

With its challenging layout, Red Mountain will test your resolve. With its beauty, this stunning course will stimulate your senses.

For an exhilarating golf experience, Red Mountain truly rocks!
